What is World AIDS Day?World AIDS Day is about everyone getting involved to make a difference in the global fight against HIV and AIDS. It might be through raising awareness, campaigning for change, or supporting essential HIV work at home and abroad. Action is more important now than ever. The global HIV epidemic has reached its highest level with over 40 million people living with HIV. Shockingly, only 8% of the people living with HIV in developing countries have access to HIV care and treatment. Women and girls are increasingly bearing the heaviest burden of HIV and AIDS. Gender inequality means that women are more vulnerable to HIV and often have less access to care and treatment. We have to be bold in challenging these inequalities and in making sure that we secure access to care and treatment for all. What can you do on World AIDS Day?
